
Campus Based Program Internship (Cape Cod Office)
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Massachusetts Bay is among the largest and most effective one-to-one youth mentoring agencies in the country and is seeking an energetic individual to support a campus based mentoring program. This is an excellent opportunity to learn about the not for profit sector and mentoring in particular, as well as be involved in a new and exciting activity on campus.
Responsibilities:
Assist Big Brothers Big Sisters of Cape Cod & the Islands (BBBSCCI) staff in coordination and expansion of a site based mentoring program including recruitment of site volunteer “Bigs”. This would include weekly attendance to the MMA campus on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 3:30-5:30pm from Sep-Dec 2016; March-June 2017 to help supervise the program
Assist with communication between the site, the site volunteer “Bigs”, and BBBSCCI.
Promote a club- like atmosphere for site volunteers and communicate group challenges, needs, and ideas to BBBSCCI.
Coordinate a 30 minute structured one to one activity for program participants (matches) each week to help develop their friendship and connection to one another and to promote positive youth development.
Requirements:
Goal-driven student who can commit to one full semesters or more.
Strong time-management, organizational, and communication skills.
Ability to self-motivate.
Experience working with youth andor mentoring a plus!
Compensation: Unpaid – if applicable can be used for credit in internship course.
Additional: This internship is an excellent opportunity to gain insight into the not-for-profit sector. You will work in a “hands-on” environment with individuals who respond daily to critical community issues. This is also a great chance to develop above-entry-level skills.
