Marketing and Communications Manager
As a member of the Community Engagement team, the Marketing and Communications Manager leads all marketing communications activities across the Agency. This includes: marketing for volunteer and youth recruitment; communications support for Development and Special Events; agency-wide communications support and project management; executing brand recognition and promotion activities via digital marketing such as PR, copywriting, managing the Agency’s website, blogging, and social media. The Marketing and Communications Manager also supports marketing efforts for BBBSMB’s satellite operations outside the Greater Boston area.
Responsibilities:
This position offers exposure to a wide variety of marketing tasks, including digital marketing, copywriting, public relations, design, vendor management, collateral development, website, blog and social media management based on inbound marketing techniques. Approximately half of the workload is predictable and routine; other specific duties will vary by day. Typically, the Marketing and Communications Manager will:
Manage and traffic all marketing and communications projects across the agency
Manage inbound lead generation campaigns for volunteer and youth recruitment including collaboration with external vendors and lead generation tools such as Hubspot
Partner with Development and Special Events teams to support communications for all donor and special events communications projects
Develop content strategy tied to agency goals and key stakeholder audiences.
Manage all social media channels and campaigns.
Manage blog editorials and oversees publishing.
Manage website maintenance and upkeep through WordPress.
Provide external relations support to other departments including email campaigns, design solutions and event support.
Manage public relations and positioning efforts with outside PR vendor and media contacts.
Analyze results of campaigns through platforms such as Hubspot and Salesforce
Write copy for press releases and local media stories while managing placement in news sources.
Supervise Marketing Assistant and Marketing interns.
Works with designers to produce Agency collateral materials and meet project deadlines. Designs some items in-house when appropriate.
Point person for Agency files including publicity, photography and media files.
Adhere to the agency’s beliefs and values in all job-related activities.
Perform additional tasks assigned by the VP Marketing, Communications and Community Relations.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business (or similar qualification) and 3+ years related work experience in a non-profit or commercial enterprise focused on promoting products or services to a wide range of diverse stakeholders
• Ability to effectively market and communicate to a diverse range of stakeholders
• Strong vendor and client management skills.
• Strong track record growing and managing external relations tools including website management and content management systems, blogs and social media platforms.
• Proficiency in data manipulation and analysis.
• Background and training in inbound marketing and lead generation techniques.
• Strong verbal and writing skills – experience copy writing.
• Strong organizational and project management skills; pro-active and solution oriented; deadline driven.
• Experience with graphic design tools
• Ability to work successfully in a team environment.
• Experience managing people to achieve goals
• Enthusiasm, sense of humor and a positive, can-do attitude.
