Special Events/Fundraising Internship (Boston and Cape Cod offices)
The nation’s largest mentoring agency – Big Brothers Big Sisters of Massachusetts Bay (BBBSMB) – seeks interns to work with a dynamic fundraising team, in a fast-paced environment. Interns will gain learning, knowledge and professional skills experience by working with the Development Department with activities and projects that help to raise funds through special events, individual and foundation giving.
The BBBSMB internship experience includes a variety of opportunities to gain knowledge of nonprofit fundraising and stewardship. Interns learn about and work with our staff in areas such as:
Prospect research
Contributing to donor cultivation and stewardship plans
Learning Raiser’s Edge database skills
Assisting with donor communications via web tools and acknowledgements
Supporting special event and stewardship event implementation
Interaction with vendors and volunteers
Desired qualifications are:
Availability to work at 10-15 flexible hours per week during fall and/or spring semesters. Will include some evenings and weekends. Could also be a year long internship.
Detail oriented; organized; good time management skills.
Familiarity with Microsoft Office programs (excel, powerpoint, etc.) and social media resources (Facebook, YouTube, etc.).
Strong customer-service skills and professionalism with the public.
Sound writing and business communication skills.
Recommended Applicable Majors – Communications, Marketing, Business, Nonprofit Management
Compensation: Unpaid. If applicable, experience can be used for credit in internship course.
