Mes de la Herencia Hispana – Little Brother del mes: Albert

During this year’s Hispanic Heritage month, we are striving to match our Latino & Hispanic Littles who are waiting for a Big! One of the many kids eagerly waiting is Albert, in the Jamaica Plain area.

Durante el Mes de La Herencia Hispana este año, nos esforzamos para encontrar Bigs para nuestros Littles Hispanos y Latinos quienes están esperando! Uno de los muchos niños esperando con ansiedad se llama Albert, quien vive por Jamaica Plain.

MEET ALBERT: SEVEN-YEAR-OLD WAITING LITTLE BROTHER

CONOZCAMOS A ALBERT: LITTLE CON 7 AÑOS DE EDAD, ESPERANDO SU BIG BROTHER

Personality: Albert can be shy when first meeting someone, but he is very active once you get to know him! He is very caring and asks his mother how she is feeling when she is sick, and cares for his sister at home. He is energetic and wanted to go to the park every day during the summer!

Personalidad: Albert es tímido al conocerle a alguien, pero será muy activo cuando lo conozcas mejor! Es muy cariñoso, y le pregunta a su mamá “¿cómo te sientes?” cuando ella está enferma, y le cuida a su hermana en casa. Tiene mucha energía y quería salir al parque todos los días durante el verano!

Interests: Baseball, swimming, computers and technology, eating (especially pizza and ice cream), tag, hide and seek, going to the library, exploring downtown, going on the train, learning new things.

Intereses: Béisbol, nadar, computadoras y tecnología, comer (en particular, pizza y helado), tag, escondite, ir a la biblioteca, explorar la ciudad, subir el tren, aprender nuevas cosas.

Things You Could Do Together: Learn some coding or try building a robot, make your own pizza, read or write a story together, make your own scavenger hunt around the city

Why He Needs a Big: Albert’s brother lives far away so he is really looking forward to having a Big Brother through this program to go to the museum, the library, Skyzone, or be active with him. He said that although he feels a little nervous about meeting someone new, he hopes a Big will be “excited to hang out with me,” and he can’t wait to introduce his Big to his family.

Por qué necesita un Big Brother: El hermano de Albert vive lejos así que quiere a un Big Brother a través de este programa para ir al museo, la biblioteca, Skyzone, o ser activo con él. Dijo que aunque conocer a alguien nuevo le hace sentirse un poco nervioso, espera que un Big esté “emocionado para pasar tiempo conmigo,” y espera presentar un Big a su familia.

Best Fit: The ideal Big for Albert is someone who speaks Spanish, can be a strong role model, and help show him that it’s ok to be himself and make his own decisions. A Big should choose a mix of activities to help expose Albert to new interests, be patient and help him feel comfortable even if he’s feeling a little shy at first, and get to know Albert’s family in addition to Albert himself.

Un Big Brother Óptimo: El Big óptimo para Albert es alguien quien hable español, pueda ser un modelo ejemplar, y le apoye en ser él mismo y tomar sus propias decisiones. Un Big debe escoger una variedad de actividades para presentarle con experiencias distintas, ser paciente y ayudarle a sentirse cómodo incluso si siente tímido al principio, y conocerle a la familia de Albert también.
