The Match Support Team is so excited to be celebrating along with you at this event! Attendance at any of these activity sessions can count as June’s Match Support Call for both Bigs and Littles who are due to speak with their Match Advocate.  If there is something specific which requires follow-up, Match Advocates will reach out – and Bigs and Families are always welcome to call, text, email or schedule an appointment!

Thank you for your interest in the Virtual Summer Match Bash!  Registration is now closed.  We hope to see you at a future event!

AFRICAN DRUMMING & DANCE | Release energy, lift spirits, connect with others, have fun, and get healthy exercise. Inspired by West African dance and drumming, this activity is therapeutic and a great outlet for creative expression.  Special materials are not required – students can sit near tabletops or chairs, or get trash cans, buckets, tupperware, kitchen utensils, etc. or other instruments they may have.  Gather trash cans, buckets, kitchen utensils so you can drum along!  If you have your own instruments, feel free to have them ready!

Littles 12 & Under 10:00 – 11:00 AM

TRILLFIT CARDIO DANCE | Our signature dance class blends Beyonce-worthy choreography (we love a good twerk sesh) with multiple rounds of HIIT, to sweat your way to a tighter, toned body. Sneakers Required. Wear comfortable clothing/sneakers and have access to water so you stay hydrated. It’s helpful to have a bit of space to move!

Littles 12 & Under 12:30 – 1:30 PM

O2 YOGA | For matches with a Little under the age of 12 and under: Connect with your Little on the yoga mat! We’ll do some calming breathing exercises and a dynamic flow through a number of animal postures from Down Dog to Camel. For matches with a Little age 13 or older:  Meet up for a moving meditation on the yoga mat. This yoga class is designed for all levels to increase body awareness, a sense of relaxation and well-being. Wear comfortable clothing that you can move freely in and have access to water so you stay hydrated. It would be helpful to have a blanket, towel or yoga mat!

CURIOUS CREATURES | 12:30 – 1:30 PM | You will get to meet some of our beautiful animals from all parts of the world and hear some fun facts about each one.  Clyde the blue and gold macaw steals the show on most of our virtual events since he does not get to visit the actual in person parties, he is loving the virtual world!  Our chinchillas are easy going and do not have a preference in person or virtual – as long as they have their dust bath!  Our rabbits are the best, they are just happy to be loved and talked about.

KARATE WITH OOM YUMG DOE | 1:30 – 2:30PM | In the Big brother Big Sister Lessons we teach fundamental skills and movements that will improve focus, concentration, determination and also improve self-defense skills. The goal of the Big Brother Big Sister Lesson is to have the Big and Little go through a challenge together to build better camaraderie and respect for one another.

WOODS HOLE SEA GRANT: MARINE MAMMALS AND BIOACOUSTICS | 1:30 – 2:30 PM | Join Grace Simpkins from Woods Hole Sea Grant at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution to explore underwater sounds!  We’ll talk a little about how and why we collect the sounds and then dive deeper.  We’ll listen to the sounds ships make underwater, other human-made sounds, fish (what does a cod sound like?), icebergs, and even marine mammals sounds!  Finally, we’ll play the sound game and see if we can identify mystery sounds. We may even check out some marine mammal bones and teeth as we hear their vocalizations.
