BBBSEM Guidelines on Social Distancing

As we approach the start of the school year – we wanted to reach out and thank you for your support and understanding as we responded to the unexpected invasion of COVID-19 and quickly shifted to the world of online mentoring. Our community of mentors and families have responded brilliantly, finding unique and powerful ways to stay bonded when this seemed near impossible.

We recognize and sympathize with everyone trying to make sense of our current new normal of social distancing, stay-at-home orders, and for many of our Littles remote learning. Each family situation is uniquely different the changes to our lives’ certainly have disrupted rituals and milestones that our Littles experience during the school year. Our goal here at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Eastern Massachusetts is to work together with you to provide structure and support to our youth and to continue to engage our matches in meaningful mentoring activities that ensure that our matches remain connected.

We hope that our updated safety guidelines provide some additional outdoor places for you to explore together! Please click here to review the updates guidelines for socially distanced outings that went into effect August 21, 2020. Please make sure to stay up to date with our Safety Guidelines for in-person meetings as we continue to make updates! As a friendly reminder, matches that have resumed in-person outings again must continue to meet outdoors. In addition to the guidelines set forth by Big Brothers Big Sisters of Eastern Massachusetts – we expect that our matches also adhere to the state and federal mandated guidelines. If your match is not ready or is unable to accommodate our safety guidelines and measures, we thank you for continuing to meet virtually and for staying connected during this difficult time. We look forward to continuing to support our matches and thank you for your patience and understanding as we continue to figure out this new normal together! From all of us here at BBBSEM, we are inspired and appreciative of all of our matches!
