Big Brothers Big Sisters of Cape Cod & the Islands is making a real difference in the lives of more than 323 youth on the Cape and Martha’s Vineyard. With more than 100 children waiting for mentors, there is a continued need for caring adult volunteers, specifically male volunteers.

One waiting Little, Jacob, interviewed over a year ago.

Jacob is an 11 year old and lives in Forestdale (Sandwich). He’s full of energy, enjoys the outdoors, and sports. In fact, he’s looking for someone to help him learn new ones. “I think it would be really fun to try new sports that I haven’t tried yet. I learned about this game in Germany called Cricket… I think it would be fun to try and learn that.”

When asked what the best thing about getting a Big would be he responded, “Do anything outside with me! I really like being active and trying new sports and it would be really fun to have a Big Brother to go outside and play. I want my Big Brother to ride bikes with me, fish and practice baseball with me.”

Jacob would benefit from a Big Brother and having an additional, positive adult in his life to help boost his confidence and help him explore new interests, new sports, and the outdoors!
