Big2Big

Big2Big is a group of dedicated and experienced mentors here to support and create a community for all Bigs at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Eastern Massachusetts. Bigs looking for additional support outside of Match Support calls have access to the wisdom of our veteran Bigs by way of “Big 2 Big,” a group of experienced Bigs from our program who are available to support Bigs as they navigate their role as a mentor.

How Big2Big Works

One on One Calls
Connect with one of our Big2Big members to talk about challenges in your match, brainstorm solutions, and navigate being a mentor. More information about our members and scheduling links are below!

Each chat can be initiated at the request of the Big. It will be a 20 minute conversation with an experienced Big. If requested, the Match Support Advocate will select a specific experienced Big based on their profile. A follow-up chat with the same experienced Big is available if desired.

Please briefly describe your Little’s personality: Brandon is a bright, energetic kid who loves pizza ALMOST as much as he loves Pokemon. Though he is very smart for his peer group, he works hard to achieve the many talents that he has. Over the years, he has grown from a reserved, shy kid to a bold, proud individual who is always willing to step outside his comfort zone to try something new. Whether it’s collecting rare Pokemon or learning to swim, once Brandon sets his mind to something, he is truly unstoppable.

Please share a bit about your professional background: I work as a physical therapist at Brigham & Women’s Faulkner Hospital in Jamaica Plain. Previously, I worked as a personal trainer for several years during my time in school and am a certified strength and conditioning specialist.

Please tell us a bit about your relationship with BBBS (e.g. how long you were a Big? active/alumni? other involvement?):  I first became involved in BBBS in February 2019 as a Big Brother to my Little Brother Brandon and remained active with him regularly until our graduation in August of 2019. I look forward to continuing to volunteer for BBBS through the Big League.

Please briefly describe your Little’s personality: very cheerful, full of energy and willing to try new things and try to overcome her fears. Our last outing was a challenge course and she was super scared of heights but the best part of it was that she never quit and challenged herself to finish it.

Please share a bit about your professional background: I work in the healthcare industry and into monitoring of clinical trials data

Please tell us a bit about your relationship with BBBS (e.g. how long you were a Big? active/alumni? other involvement?):  I have been a Big for 4 years and a part of the big league for the past year
